Assignment 6: Lyle

I went to Northlake Mall around noon on an overcast Friday. There were not that many people around the time that I went. Most of the people I saw were elderly couples using the space for walking, while a few younger customers leisurely shopped. I saw no mall cops while I was there.

There are 4 anchors at this mall. The majority of the smaller stores are national chains, but several stores sit empty. There are a few local stores, including the dollar store pictured below and a barber shop. The mall seems to cater to a more middle class clientele.
There are benches located all over the mall, with a large sitting area around a fountain in the middle. There is no major attraction like a movie theater and the food court is down a separate hall, disconnected from the rest of the stores. This gives me a sense that the mall caters to casual, older shoppers, giving them plenty of places to sit without having to deal with the large, younger crowds attracted by movie theaters, food courts, arcades, and other such places.
