Westin Peachtree is a major convention hotel for downtown Atlanta. It’s arguably the most recognizable building in the Atlanta skyline. The glass window façade fortunately no longer has that gapped tooth appearance as all of the windows damaged by the tornado have recently been replaced. The hotel is geared to convention goers, families visiting the aquarium and people looking to just get away for the weekend, as evident by it’s Georgia weekend getaway specials. The Westin hosts all kinds of events though. I’ve even been to a professional boxing match here.
The lobby is several stories high and features a Starbucks, restaurant, a bar, and plenty of comfortable “modern living room” seating. Despite this I never really enjoy being in this lobby I always feel like I’m in a spaceship and for some reason that makes me very uncomfortable…It’s very busy, people are everywhere like a bee hive! It never appears like people are interacting with others outside of their travel group, unless they’re at the bar. Actually, I don’t even think half the people in the lobby are renting a room. They’re either attending a meeting/presentation or just wandering in to gawk at the lobby.
The best thing about this hotel is the pool. It’s great. And for whatever reason no one goes there...
I like your description of the crowds in the lobby.
