Assignment 9: Angelica

The Metropolitan At Buckhead Apartment Homes is located on Lenox Road, next to the Marta station for Lenox Mall. The complex is divided into six y-shaped, 4-story structures and each structure contains about 72 units; for an approximate total of over 400 units for the entire complex. The buildings are surrounded by parking and they are located around the recreational pool area. There are plenty of mature trees amongst the property with nice landscaping. The surrounding environment outside the complex is urban, but inside it resembles a suburban setting because of the trees and curvolinear parking streets. It resembles a garden apartment style and is surrounded by a mix of single-family homes, apartments, condos, and businesses. The complex is gated and only the first two buildings are visible from Lenox Road. At a glance, it appears to be a small complex because it does not take up a lot of visual space from street view.
The complex appears to have been built in the late 1970s or early 1980s because of the simplistic, box-like design reminiscent of the modern California style apartment buildings of that time. Plus, the fact that all of the trees are about the same height indicate a landscaped design about 40 or 50 years old. The name Metropolitan probably indicates the type of residents. I live close to this complex and have seen many flight attendants, business professionals, and students walking between this complex and the Marta Station. It's a perfect location for residents who travel a lot or work downtown and need fast and easy access to the Marta transit. It is also close enough to Lenox Mall for convenient shopping and entertainment. The name and design could serve to market the complex as a living area that is close to the modern necessities and commodities of a metropolis but secluded enough in itself to be a nice suburban-like getaway from the urban scenery.
Since the units don't look that large and the buildings are only 4-stories, I would say the design of the complex indicates a clientele of singles or young professionals. It could also accommodate senior citizens for its close proximity to the mall and public transit. It is definitely designed to enjoy the landscaping and have a quiet haven in the city. Although now, there is more of a mix or residents with young couples and students or professionals. I did not see too many children or families in the complex. The place is well maintained with a nice pool area and plenty of open green space and a shared recreation room near the leasing office. I did see people sitting by the pool using the space for leisure.
