Avondale Station Apartments on College Ave between Avondale Estates and Decatur are a postwar FHA garden-style apartment complex. The complex is made up of several units of four apartments each. Each unit sits on a green-space, with plenty of parking throughout the complex. With the exception of two units, all of the apartments sit away from the main road, giving them privacy from the bustle of the outside. A gate limits access to the apartments, giving even more of a sense of privacy, even though the gate is open during the day, allowing anyone to come in.According to the office manager, these buildings were originally intended for seniors. The units were built to remind them of their houses, with a front and back door and plenty of green space in the front and back. It is uncertain how long this lasted as senior apartments because of the amount of stairs. All buildings are two stories and most of them have stairs leading to the front and back doors.
Despite the age of these apartments, they have been fairly well maintained and continue to house a mixture of low to middle class residents instead of becoming strictly lower class and immigrant housing as other aparments of its era have.
