Assignmet 9: Hanieh


The Fernwood apartment complex is an L-shape garden apartments sitting just at the junction of Northside drive and I-75. The three-story Fernwood apartments consist of 12 apartments in each section and 4 apartments on each floor. In fact, each section divided into two parts, one half faces the inside of the complex and other half faces Northside Dr or I-75 highway. The complex is surrounded by single-family houses. Although, the complex is just on the side of the Northside drive, the entrance is not near the street and for reaching the entrance there is a semi-circle alley to pass. The complex is gated and the entrance and exit gate are at the same place. While entering the complex one faces the main mass of the apartments and the swimming pool and leasing office in the center. There is no covered parking and cars are parked right in front of the apartments. Guest parking located at the end of the complex.

Rents of the apartments range from 738 to 823 one bedroom/bathroom with 550sq to 800sq and 1,028 two bedroom with 910sq. The houses have dishwasher, garbage disposal, refrigerator, oven, washer and dryer and monitored alarm system. The amenities the complex has are Clubhouse, high speed internet access and swimming pool.

The complex has about 1.5 miles to Georgia Tech and is so near to down town and Georgia State, too. Considering its location and its closeness to GT or Georgia State it seems that it is mostly advertised for GT or GSU students. However, about half of its residences are students and the others are families. It may be because of its convenient place and easy access to other places and highways. Speaking with some of its residents, all were GT students they admitted that this place is very good, cozy and clean and most importantly it is just minutes to Georgia tech without any traffic and time consuming. In fact, continuing up the Northside drive for about 2 mile, one can reach GT campus. Besides, the complex is about a minute to Channing Valley Park and is less than a mile to a shopping center that has Wal-Mart, Kroger, office depot and so many other stores and restaurants.

The complex in the whole was so quiet. There were some people sitting in the sun-benches near pool and reading and another person was barbequing on the grill near the pool. The complex was built 1985 but it is still in good shape and is completely clean and comfortable and easy access to shopping center, university and highway.
